hello
Based Partly on writings by Roger Caillois, this work explores the idea of dissolution into the environment, i.e. physically becoming space itself, as a source of power particularly in bodies which are perceived as female. When a body becomes, or is camouflaged into a wall, it allows for a reversal of the Lacanian subject/object relationship--the body becomes the uncanny gaze looking out at the room, no longer an individual in space but a larger whole. To exist necessarily implies a strict framework dictated by the other, whose boundaries make up the site for life. I am interested in a semi existence, a limbo state which provides a freedom from these boundaries, otherwise unachievable.
